(snort!) What the heck!? How did those "balls" get attached? Surely they are hollow and perhaps more of a cup than an actual ball....

I wonder if this thing comes apart for transport? The bottom is kind of interesting, too.

Makes my odd ideas seem lots less odd.

Look closely at the pieces sitting on the floor. It appears they are threaded and screwed into the vase.

This work is by Alan Gattamorta. His site is the most interestingly composed I have ever seen. Go to the site below and see how he makes this piece- he calls it modular vase. You will see just the base. Look to the right and note the little line drawings that look like nothing much. Click on one and the picture of the vase will change to include that section of parts. This is a very intricate structure - nothing like what I expected from looking at the outside.
