I'm curious about using the loose 'tufa from when I carve pieces. After it dries, it seems like it would make a great aggregate and wonderful way to recycle. I'm accumulating a lot of it! I'd use one part Portland, 1-1/2 parts peat, 1-1/2 parts tufa carvings. Eh?

I believe you can 'recycle' you findings from your previous projects. Just remember that they really are additives; akin to perlite, vermiculite, peat moss, etc and not to replace any of the cement in the mix.

There is also Turkey Grit that comes in 3 sizes. It is crushed granite and I use it in my gardening ;-)

I have saved and used all my carving bits. I would rather use them than toss them away. They work just fine.My last carving was still quite green when I carved it. I have put all the bits into a light globe, and think that they just may have bonded alright. I have yet to break it , but hope to this weekend.

You would think a feed store would be the place but no in my area.
My concrete supply outfit sells the "Grit" but the feed store sells the oyster shell.:)
