Can I cover an existing birdbath?

Hi. I'm sort of new to this but have made some troughs before. I have an all metal birdbath that gets rusty no matter how many coats of paint I put on it. Does anyone think that I might be able to cover the entire birdbath with hypertufa? If so, is there a mixture that would work better than others?

If this is not a good idea, does anyone have any other solutions for this sad little birdbath?
