Pre-made face mold, how do I make a planter? See pic!

I purchased a face mold that is flat on the other side. I can fill it with mix and make a garden rock/ornamental piece, but I prefer to make a planter, if there is a successful way of doing that. How would I use the mold to adhere to another substrate to make a face planter instead of the rock? Any ideas!

There would be two methods I can think of:
1. Build a mold for a planter with a hole cut for the face mold and attach the face mold to it; so it all in essence becomes one mold
2. Cast the face separately but embed wires into it while still wet once it sets you can pour your container (or hand build as the case may be) and push the face down into it with the wires going in first. I have done this when attaching separately made hands or a head with my sculptures. Not sure how well it would work for you though.
