Gorilla glue DOES expand.I found that out with eyes as well.
I was able to scrape away the problem on the first batch of our"frogs"(or grots);thereafter,I use less than I would be wont to do with normal glues,much less.This stuff is great in small amounts.I put a drop on a palette knife,and use that drop on two grots(four eyes for those counting!).
The label outlines its expansion,as does their website.Course,being a man,I didn't think that I was using too much at first...not now!!

Epoxy (G-2) is better IMO. It's clear and you have complete control over how quickly and how hard it sets.
It can be applied thick or thin.
It's cheaper as well and has a longer shelf life than Gorilla
