Drip Irrigation setup advice

Hello fellow gardeners. Could you give me some advice?

I'm moving my garden for next year and I want to use drip irrigation. I have used soaker hoses in the past but they get clogged and tear easily. I thought drip irrigation would work better and be cheaper in the long run?

The main part of my garden will consist of 4 or 5 12X4 ft. raised beds located in one area.

I did some initial research online and found drip tape and drip lines at lengths starting at 100 ft. The spacing of the drip holes were every 6", 12", etc. I thought drip holes every 6" would be best. I like to water deeply to encourage deep root growth. I figure I would weave the line in each bed three times, so probably 200 ft of line would work.

I'm thinking I would lay the drip line on the soil surface and cover it with a few inches of mulch. Or should I bury it a little?

One more thing. Since different vegetables have different moisture needs, like peppers v. melons, I would like to have a system where I could cut off water in certain beds. I guess this can be done with the drip system?

Thanks,

Pete
