dumb pepper question

We got a bunch of peppers from someone last year who's garden overproduced. We got chili peppers and banana peppers of various colors.

I did not like the chili peppers, but I liked the banana peppers, so I saved a bunch of seeds from the banana peppers to plant this year.

The problem is ... now I have mostly chili pepper plants - probably 75% of 30+ plants them came up chili pepper.

I am 99% sure I did not save any chili pepper seeds... but I must have right? Or is there any way, since they were grown together, to get chili peppers out of a banana pepper's seeds?

Or, do banana peppers grow up like this? It seem that, on the plants that have banana peppers growing on them, they did not grow up like this...

These are not my plants, but this is what my plants look like
