Rubber tree pruning

I bought a rubber plant years ago when I was young and irresponsible. It was a grouping of 3-5 plants. It is now a single stalk that has survived a few years of neglect to turn into a happy healthy plant. BUT it looks a bit odd now that it's 2'+ tall. It has leaves from the base to the top and is bending over because of the weight. Can I cut the top off? Will it sprout new branches if I do? Can I root the top and replant it if I cut it off? I am fairly experienced with plants, but I'm more of a low-maintenance plant lady (philodendron species, dracaenas, succulents, etc.). This is my only ficus that has ever made it. Advice appreciated!
