Monte, you must contact the CDFA before you try to cross into the state of California with fruit trees (or any plants). Many types of fruit trees are prohibited to be brought into the state of California due to insects and diseases. Please contact the CDFA before you try to bring these trees into the state. If you do not get your trees certified, and then inspected within a certain number of days after entering the state of California, you can be faced with a hefty fine.

Listen to Peggy! The last thing we want is another repeat of Hacienda Heights.

This plants will be taken to Texas, I'm in California right now. Do I still need to certifed the trees?

No, you don't. I moved from CA to TX with all my potted citrus trees . However, in many parts of TX you'll have to do the "plant shuffle" in winter to bring them inside when a blue norther comes in and freezes everything, although I put mini Xmas lights (not LED) to protect them from frost in Hill Country and that worked out ok until we had a really bad winter, then everything died.

Can you give us an example of how you brought your citrus into the state and what year was it? Were you stopped by anyone or did any officials know you were bringing citrus into the state? What year did you move to Texas?
