In the spring of '09 I planted a Shiro plum tree that I purchases at a local nursery. The tree appears healthy & is about 8 ft. tall. This spring it had plenty of blossoms & set fruit, about 3 dozen. However the plums are falling off the tree & there only less than a dozen left. What would make the plums fall from the tree before they ripen? I see no insect damage. The fruit is now about 2 inches in diameter. Guess I won't get any fruit this year! Anyone know what's happening? Also, I didin't plant a pollinator. The nursey said that Shiro's are self pollinating.
