Going potty

No, I'm not being toilet trained ROFL You guys!!!!

I showed you my WIP pot the other day and now it's not only grouted but I did another one the next day.

And here's my 'news'.... when I went to the flea market in Millgrove I stopped into a leadlight & glass store in the town and showed the owner one of my mosaic pots. Actually, a couple of weeks before I had been talking to his wife and wanted to show her my mosaic pot but she wasn't there. Anyway, they guy liked my work and offered to sell my pots! Well, he'd buy them off of me then jack up the price, but still.... I'm excited!!! He said if I had about 10 ready to bring them down and we'd do a deal. In one of the nurseries around they sell mosaic pots for $26, and they are about the size as what I've just finished. So we'll see. I'll have to get busy mosaicing away. If they sell well from that store in Millgrove, I may even venture out and sell them myself at the craft market. Or should I try that first and if they don't sell there sell them to that store?

What do you think? I'm just so excited I can't think straight!

I say, sell to the store first, get your name out there. Don't forget to sign your work! Then, selll at the market & keep the store man's price.

Cait, that is great news!!! Your creations are worth every penny! You're about to open a new door in your artistic world! That would be the best of both worlds ... to enjoy your favorite hobby and be paid for it!!!

Vickie gave you great advice. I personally know nothing about selling except what I'd expect to pay if I came across your mosaic pots, and I think you're in the right price range. And yes, don't forget to sign all your pieces!

Keep us posted on this! Gooooooood Luck!!!!! ~tenderlee

Please make your signature legible. I picked up a darling Manatee, and would love to contact the maker, but can't get the signature to make sense. Very irritating..
You might want to seal the signature so it doesn't blur. Yes! Good for you, I hope this is the start of a thriving mosaic business.

Thank you all! And thanks, Akup, for the advice. I'll sell through the store first. And I never thought about signing my work and will find an indelible marker to PRINT my name on it - my script is pathetic! hahaha

    Cait,
Those are beautiful. I always wanted to learn.

Do they have to be brought in for winter time?
I would include care instruction with them.

What a great thing for you Cait! Congratulations! I hope you can get your name out there and start selling tons of pots!!

    Good for you!
The more pots you sell, the more things like
the tricycle you can buy! LOL

Congrats, cait! What great news! I agree with others that you should try selling to the store first. Let them do all the marketing and selling for you. And I agree that akup_a had a great idea telling you to sign your work. If not a signature, then some sort of insignia (like I'd probably use a happy full moon for mine). Friesfan also had a great idea too to include care instructions like how to clean them and whether they should be taken in for the winter.

Please keep us updated on your progress!

Wow that is fantastic!!!! I love your creations! Good advice to sign your work! Don't forget to do that!!! IF you sell to the store first then you don't have to worry about it. Then if they are selling really well you could go off and try a craft market etc.

Cait that is wonderful. It always feels so good when someone appreciates your hard work. My suggestion would be to start with selling them in the store to see if there is a demand for them. Then if you feel like you will make more of a profit by selling them at the market after figuring in the price of your booth space you can always change. I have sold my art both ways and where I live I have found that I can make more through the stores. They are already established as a business and will be doing the advertising for you.

Cait congrats. Your pots are so pretty. I'm sure you will do well.

ahhh, CAIT! I LOVE those 2 pots! Your work is awesome! You are so inspiring & I'm happy to hear that a shop will give your works a try! Go for it!

You've got me wondering...I even looked at a pair of "nippers" today at Hobby Lobby & Menards...still thinkin'! Would like some pots done up...maybe I can vacation in Australia and buy one of yours at a shop! Heh! Heh! (dreamer!) Thanks for sharing the pics! Jeanne S.

Great news I am so happy for you!
I would definitely sell to store,
    if he is successful selling
than you can go to other stores
and you have become the artistic manufactor!
    Create a pretty signature (Logo)
put on every art piece now you will
    be advertising your art!

It might be a good idea to get a deal up front before you make the pots because than he will have the upper hand because you have too much inventory!!

    Good Luck

Cait, those pots are very lovely and artistic. I'm not surprised the guy wants to sell them!
The tessarae has a water color effect to it. Is that how the plate or what ever was colored, or did you alter it in some way?

I know our worth is not measured in dollars (thank goodness), but it sure is nice to have someone see and pay for what you have done. Congrats.
