When I grafted to my apple this year I backed up my cleft and whip and tongue grafts with chips or buds.

On some of the grafts both the main and the backup grafts took.

Should I choose one or the other, or is it OK to leave it all?

And along similar lines, I have two places on my pear where a scaffold branch has two succesful bud or chip grafts in line with each other, so that they are branches perched on top of the scaffold. Each is showing good vigor and putting on plenty of growth. Again, do I need to choose, or can they both thrive?
