Looks like it's in a bottle tree -- ??? It's VERY pretty. I'm interested in what kind of glass you used as well. I like the dark grout because it really makes the colors pop! Good work. TFS

    nanatricia,
THANK YOU for posting this again!!! I absolutely fell in love with it last fall when I first saw it!! And those are candy wrappers underneath, right? I got started on my ball last fall, using blue, gold and red foil 'papers' then I had to quit since my workspace is in the cold garage. I'm soooo excited to get back to work on it, especially since I now have the glass to put on it. This is going to be my first yard project of 2010, I hope it turns out well, if so, I'll post it, if not, we'll just forget I ever wrote this :)

when you said candy wrappers are you talking about the foil or the paper itself?

Let me understand you You're saying that pretty ball is made of glass with candy wrappers under it? I'm confused...could you explain it s-l-o-w-l-y for this old granny??? Thanks

    grandmathyme,
here's my understanding: the base is an old, probably plastic, christmas ornament, nanatricia took foil candy wrappers and covered the ornament, then used silicone to attach the saftey glass, then grouted it. At least that's the way I'm doing my bowling ball, siliconing the foil to the bowling ball, then I'm going to silicone on the glass from my mom's broken patio table (sidebar - I now have a 4x4 green patio table without a top, surely there's a use for that???) all over the foil, then grout. And I'm hoping it will be almost as lovely as nanatricia's ball and if so, I will post it. If not, you won't hear from me again about this particular project :)

Yes that is right.Kelly you could always mosaics a new top.

Thanks for the explanation, Kelly. THAT is quite amazing. I wouldn't have EVER thought about that! I have 3 bowling balls sitting in my garage in need of dressing up!

Now, let me return the favor. You said >>(sidebar - I now have a 4x4 green patio table without a top, surely there's a use for that???)

Here's what I'm doing with a metal patio table without the glass top that I just got...maybe you could do something similar with hour topless patio table. I am putting the bowl from our old Weber BBQ on it and will plant it this Spring. This is a taller table...more like a bar table than a normal-height one.

We had used our old Weber grill so much the legs finally just collapsed. At the dump a couple weeks ago, the man at the next bin was readying to toss a Weber grill in the bin and I asked him if I could have it. So, I now have HIS old grill (which is in great shape to use for grilling) and I can use the bowl of my old legless grill and a recycled table as a planter.
