Bears and a Birdhouse

Hello everyone! I received these gifts from two students on the last day of school. Aren't they cool? The bluish/purplish bears remind me of a parent with a child. I am touched as I look at these bears...both as a parent and as a lover of bears!!! I love the rusticness of the birdhouse. I have an unfinished birdhouse I made and thought one of my summer projects would be to attempt to make a birdhouse like this one. I have all of the materials on our property...rocks, moss, branches, twigs... (What do you think I should use to attach it all?) I displayed the bears and birdhouse on our covered side porch, out of the elements. The girl who gave me the bears said they were meant for my gardens, but I wanted to protect them from the weather. Thought I'd share my treasures from some sweet students. Enjoy! Bear Hugs! Kirk

I LOVE the big bear. They are a darling pair and I'd have them in the house for sure. And that birdhouse is really nice, of course I'd make it a "fairy" house in my garden!
I was going to try to do something similar too with an unfinished birdhouse from Michaels. Just need to get to the glue and stuff out and get busy.
Did I say I LOVE that big bear! Wow.

Kirk, is it possible to find out where that big bear came from in hopes I might be able to order one? I don't collect bears but this one really got me for some reason.
I like bears, so do buy some Xmasy ones and pretend I'm not "collecting" them. Just decorating for the Holidays.
    LOL. Works for me.

Hi Karen, Looked at the box the bears came in. It's a plain brown box but doesn't give many clues except "Glazed Blue Bear Pair"... No company name on bears or box. Called the family who gave it to me. They said they bought it off E-Bay with no more information than that. I spent the last hour searching on line for you with no success but will keep searching. I'll let you know if I come up something. In the meantime, you'll have to visit my bears when you come babysit!!! :o) Kirk

Thank you for going to so much trouble, Kirk. I really appreciate it. And oh how I'd love to come babysit, and visit your fabulous bear collection. I'd stay outside pretty much all the time I'm sure. Your gardens are just so enticing. Hope your baby boy likes the outdoors since I'd not be putting him down or giving him back while there.

Karen, Discovered the bears came from Coldwater Creek. We'll be in Sandpoint, Idaho (a cool town!!!) this summer where their main store is...I'll look for the blue bears and let you know. Sandpoint is not too far from us. Looked on their website but didn't see them. Looked on Ebay too. I'm not giving up! :o) Kirk

Thank you Kirk. I'll keep checking eBay and Internet too. Do you make wood cut-outs for your garden? I saw the cutest design of a bear leaning against a pine tree that would make a great "pattern". I'm always saving things that look easy to saw out. If you want to see it, let me know. sangareeKS at aol
