Rooting blackberries

I got a couple of green (cane) cuttings from a friend's blackberry plant. I know they root pretty easily, but I only have a few cuttings, so I'm asking for advice to maximize the chance of success. In particular:

- root in water or directly in soil?

- use IBA hormone or not?

- cut or peel the bark at the base to expose cambium?

- remove leaves / leaf petioles or not?

Thanks!
