Stone wall in the back

What kind of stone is this and is it dry stacked or mortared?

    The wall was existing before we became involved. It is probably an irregular fieldstone mix native to Massachusetts and New England. I would guess the construction to be what they call 'semi-dry laid' which means they use concrete and mortar for structural support but rake back the joints deeply to give the appearance of a traditional dry laid stone wall.

      The hydrangea are Endless Summer' and you are right those are Siberian Iris 'Caesars Brother'

      BTW, what variety of catmint is in the pic - Walkers Low or Six Hills Giant or something else entirely different?

      Not 100% sure but likely 'Walkers Low' since i use that most often.
