Post all of the soil test results, and let us know which lab did the test (it matters)

It was a test kit I purchased @Agway, results showed elevated acidity.

1. Where are you? (Not zone, but where?)
2. What kind of grass are you growing?
3. Do the pine trees block the sun, or are they on the north side of the yard? Is there a mulched area around them, or is the grass right up to the trunk?
4. How frequently do you water?
5. What height setting on your mower do you use?

If it was me, i would keep weeds at bay until fall. Mow very short in Sept (im in NJ), overseed, fertilize, water and let it fill in. Any big bare patches i would use some lesco 3 in 1 patch, ive used it before and it has worked great, as has the scotts patch. (mulch, seed and fertilizer). then in spring, pre-em, kill off the weeds you will eventually get and come fall it should be good.

Grass is what they sell around here: perennial rye, kentucky something-or-other, etc. No zoisa or anything like that.

The pines are on the south side of the yard. There's a stockade fence on the property line; the pines are on my neighbors side about 10 feet from the fence. The pines block morning sun in certain spots of the front yard. My house is a one level ranch so the lawn gets morning sun by the road. Otherwise, sun hits the entire lawn around 2:00pm. Grass closest to the pines is the thickest.

Agway, HD, Lowes test kits are junk. Get a real soil test and post the results here. Getting "elevated acidity" is like getting "running rough" about your car.
