Is there a reason why you feel the need for them to be gotten rid of?

If they are fire ants then you certainly want to get rid of them! But even ordinary ants can be a problem if you have lots. There are various baits that can be used that the ants carry back into their colony which would cause no issues with your lawn, Once the ants have been killed or their number seriously reduced, you can level off the mounds or hills that may remain.

@beesneeds The reason is that I have been bitten by them and I have small grandkids that beg me to let them play in the yard and I can't.
