Another Barnwood Bloom

17 years ago

Remember these flea market finds from May 09:

{{gwi:145402}}

Then lately I shared this pic where I used a couple items from above and made the miniature garden & also used chocolate tea kettle to water nearby potted plants.

{{gwi:134656}}

Here's another barnwood bloom I made with the "corn seed plate" from flea market pic with grinder blade for the center of flower & 50 cts. GS find of metal leaves...I cut apart a few & painted.

I'm brainstorming these "barnwood blooms" ...wouldn't they be great on a fence or building!! I put wire hangers on the back.

I just got a couple more great items at flea market...an old ringer washer head (wringers/handle only...not whole machine like I've seen on here)...& a fan blade for another bloom project. Here's a link to my Photobucket with other barnwood blooms (& barnwood projects). Hope you enjoy! Jeanne S.

    I just love your barnwood creations! What an imagination you have. I agree, something like that would look great on a wooden fence. I really have to get my friend, who has an unsightly wooden fence bordering the back of her yard (neighbor's fence), to decorate it with things like this. Thanks for the idea!

    I love your barnwood bloom! It is so simple but so pretty. What do you have planned for the license plates?

    Me too darn it.
    Your work is wonderfully unique.
    I've done some things on old fence wood as well, but the metal you use is wonderful for outdoor decorations.
    Can't wait to see your other pieces.

    Beautiful, love the coloring as looks so natural. Would look fine hanging on a bare patio wall or garage or garden shed wall. Jan

    So,so original and wonderful. You are very creative using the simplest old things. I bought two old rusty primitive things this week, which I never do. I always thought they were cool in other people's yard's, but not mine. DH couldn't believe I bought them, but you have showed me the light.

    Oh Jeanne! I adore your "Barnwood Blooms" My Mom loved them too... I hope you don't mind...She and I are going to make some together for her potting shed and mine! I have been collecting stuff for them. I only hope I can be half as creative as you are with them!!!!! Love the leaves...I have a mirror with the same ones....LOL

    Great, shabby! They are so much fun! I changed the leaves a couple times before I settled on this...first I used that soft lead stuff like for stained glass...but didn't like how the leaf was shaping. Will be awesome on you & Mom's potting sheds! I sand the old barnwood a bit first...and then sand the edges a bit...sometimes I put poly on them...but not this one.

    Hey, CF GJer, good to hear from you! I bragged about meeting you ont he conversation side right after we met!

    Thanks for the comments, GJers! Jeanne S.
