Toolbox Planter

Two years ago I posted this cool toolbox I bought a garage sale for $1. It has only taken me two years to plant it up!!! LOL!!! Anyway, here it is with geraniums! I lined it with heavy duty plastic. Everyone on the forum at the time said to leave the toolbox as it was and don't paint it. I agree as the worn look has a story to tell. ENJOY! Bear Hugs! Kirk

Great choice of flowers, the toolbox looks great :)

Beautiful flowers, and the old toolbox is a perfect backdrop to show them off. Or they show IT off. I'm SO glad you didn't paint it. I bet that wood does have a story it whispers to the wind.

What pretty geraniums! I love the rustic look of the toolbox and I'm glad you didnt paint it either. I fished a wooden chair out of someone's trash that is painted a faded blue. I figured one day it would look lovely with flowers planted in the seat. It might take me as long to plant the chair as it did for you to plant your toolbox. he-he Looks great and TFS!

Very nice, I agree with the natural look.

Great use ! The pinks really bring out the blueish cast of the toolbox! It's still working for it's owners but in a lovely way!! Jan

I didn't get to weigh in on the paint vs. not to paint, but I think you definitely made the right choice. I'm all for the natural look. It's very attractive. Of course, I can't miss such a perfect opportunity to share a picture of my toolbox. This is actually from a year ago or so. Since I have moved it to a shady spot and have it full of impatiens. Now I'll have to be on the look out for a wooden tool box! Thanks for sharing!

    It's beautiful, Kirk!

I'm also big for leaving things natural. I love old and rust!! Sort of goes with the territory around here! LOL

I have a wooden tool box like it, that I made for DH's best friend for Christmas years ago. I put Harry's monogram on it, and got it back after he died. I'm thinking of planting it, but haven't been able, so far, to bring myself to drill drainage holes in the bottom! I'm just too darned sentimental for my own good! LOL I made one for my dad too, but I'm keeping that one for indoor use.

Your tool box is lovely too, Maggie!

Oooohhh, I missed this post earlier, but your toolbox looks just beautiful Kirk! Love the pink geraniums in it and I agree that leaving the box natural was a great choice!

Great job both of you. Guess we'll all be on the look out for tool boxes. HUMM where's DH old one ;)

I love your tool box planter. I agree you don't want to do anything to it. I had a smaller version my DH made me and if I can figure out how to post pictures I will show you how he made it and how I decorated it.

Ahhh, jeepers! Another "add to the list" of GJ! Will have my eye out for toolboxes now! Got my first blue bottle this weekend, too! (to go with 2 blue flower vases & glass plant waterer)...ugh! Great flower planters, Kirk & Maggie (and plant choices). TFS pics! Jeanne S.
