What Do You Do With Crocks?

I got these crocks on vacation at a GS, the big one $5, and the little one $2. My question is, does anyone have an idea for them, other than planting them? I made the mistake of leaving one outside all winter, planted, and it cracked. Any ideas? Thanks!

Nice crocks! I've never been brave enough to put any outside yet. I would probably plant in another pot and just set that inside the crock though. Not sure how tall that bigger one is but I've seen them used as a little side table by cutting a piece of wood just big enough for a "lid".

I have several also. They make good magazine racks. Another I have filled with Dog toys. One I have a HUGE decorative plate on top and use as a table. Still have some empty ones so I would like more ideas also!

I don't put them outside unless the are cracked really bad.
That larger one I would definitely not plant in it if it is a good sound crock. You can use them in the house for newwpapers, magazines, dog toys, or set a plant in them that is already potted in another pot.

I fill mine with water and put water plants in them, like water hyacinths and fairy moss, then in fall I put in fall cut grasses, when winter comes I empty out those contents and put Christmas greens in them.

I use a smaller, cracked on in my bathroom to hold the plunger.

I have one inside on the hearth of our pellet stove for all the tools. Would also be darling next to a fireplace or firepit with kindling in it.

I've seen them placed near doors to put wet umbrellas in.

Several people have bought crocks lately.
If you want to read those posts just enter
'crocks' in the search box at the bottom of the page.

Depending on the size, by the door for umbrellas, I have a small one on my counter that holds my spatulas and big spoons etc by the stove. If you have an exercise area you could use it to hold your mat, and any extras you might use such as yoga blocks, batons (I play when I exercise some days so I also have "toys")
I'd use one inside the house to hold a planter with a nice Fern of some kind in it.

    They are really nice crocks!

Don't y'all' just love crocks? I sure do! I have mine displayed on top of the china hutch. I have one that is very old that my granny put sour dough starter in. When we get in the mood for sour dough bread/rolls, we use it for the starter. Sure brings back lots of fun memories of that crock sitting on granny's hooser cabinet.

I also have a large one with a spigot that I put tea in when we have family meals, also put water in it when we're in a hurricane warning. Then I have several smaller ones that I use for silverware, napkins, or fresh flowers for the table.

All of my crocks are in the house, even if they are cracked. They mean too much to me when I find one that I'm willing to pay for that I couldn't stand thinking about it getting broken! I have them throughout the house holding plants, books, kitchen utensils and even one filled with rag balls that I made. I just love a simple crock!

Those two crocks are gorgeous and you definitely got them at excellent prices. Please don't leave them outside in the winter, crocks are old and will crack easily under extreme cold conditions. I have a few I just display as they are and a taller one with a plant inside another planter. I put a dish inside the bottom of the crock to catch water when I water the plant.

I'd keep mine protected. I don't have a kitchen yet,but I have plans to keep my wooden rolling pin and sausage stuffer collection on the counter in a big crock.
