Will I ever have 'Prok'???

Maybe THIS time will be the charm.

Attempt # 1, Spring 2008 -- ordered a Prok from Starks. It arrived snapped off at the graft union, despite the reasonably good method of packaging.

Attempt # 2, Spring 2008-Spring 2009. Stark sent me a replacement. I potted it for the summer, it grew nicely and even tried to form a fruit, which aborted due to not being pollinated. I planted it in the ground in the fall. It looked very healthy. This past spring, I found that it had died above the graft union over the winter.

Attempt #3, Spring 2009. I ordered one from a different source, bare root. This little tree kicked in and started to grow. I went out in July and found that it was snapped off at the graft union. Weather, deer, who knows?

Attempt # 4: So, yesterday I ordered two more for fall shipment from Stark, since they were now on sale. They should come next week per the customer service person. Wish me luck. Of course, I don't know if I actually believe them that they are in stock, but I'll see.

I really want this cultivar.
