HI,

I have a hedge of raspberries that borders my lawn and has killed a foot of grass on either side of it. Also, suckers are appearing from the root system spreading out from the hedge. I have cleared the dead grass in preparation of putting down new soil and seed. However, I worry I may have to do this every year!

I thought perhaps I could put down some water porous landscaping fabric (mulch) under the new soil to prevent these roots coming up. Then cover with 3" soil/grass.

Any thoughts please?
