Where do you live? Please be pretty specific. There are some places where fescue will grow and some places where it is an uphill battle until it all dies out.
How are you watering? How long and how often?
How high/low are you mowing?

Before you feed it you need to know that it was overfed at the sod farm just before it was cut and shipped. Don't feed it until Labor Day.

Just to bring y'all up to date. Elbeardo wrote to me offline and answered the questions. The lawn in question, which is not his, is in San Pedro, California. San Pedro is a highly unusual location sitting at the bottom south side of a reasonably steep hill. The sun goes down over the hill in the mid afternoon. San Pedro is a harbor community at the entrance to the Port of Los Angeles at Long Beach. Thus they are highly influenced by the Pacific ocean temperatures, "late night and early morning low fog and clouds burning off at 11," and onshore wind every day at 2pm.

The lawn in question has been watered every other day for 10 minutes and has been mowed down to 1.5 inches.

Because of the unique location and minimal sunlight, fescue like Marathon II should be one of the very few grasses that would thrive. The soil on this lot is sandy which is unlike much of San Pedro.

I suggested to him that he back way off on the watering and increase the time to water. I also suggested raising the mowing height all the way but I just read that Marathon II is a dwarf variety of Marathon. With that in mind the grass should be mowed about 2.5 inches - two notches higher than the current height.

recently installed 3,000 SQ ft of the same type of marathon 2 sod grass i live in sunny California the landscaper i had do the work put my timer to go off 3 times a day 4 zones for 13 mins when that heatwave hit 3 months ago the next thing i had was a muchriom farm growing everywere he kept tell me nit to worry it will go away everyday i woke up to more and more mushrooms popping up on the new grass i went crazy because i have 2 small puppys they were trying to eat them they got a little sink so everyday every morning i woukd go pick them out of tge ground sonetimes two times a day morning & night time at less 80 to 150 mushroom i would have picked from the ground. i fiund out mushrooms are a funges and too much watering the grass will case funges witch makes mushrooms no lie i almost buried him in the ground with those dame mushrooms i had true green lawn servise come out to help me witch they saud they could well next thing the service tect is strying my grass and telling ne so whats ghe problem with your bew grass i looked at him and said i wantt a nice green grass in my yard not brown muchrooms he laugh and told me true green cant do anything about tgat who told you we did i went nuts i told him tge f en sales man tokd me they can fux my problem for a 6 treatment service at a cost if $450 dollers i threw the tect off my property im bearly todate now have got it under control so less water i water by hand now but i will only use the sprink system 3 times a week each zone for only 8 mins only good Luck

SoCal goes from Bakersfield to San Diego including Big Bear Lake and the Salton Sea. We can't help much without more detail. Thirdly it would really, Really, REALLY help if you used punctuation in your writing. And lastly, it is practically unAmerican to grow Marathon types of grasses anywhere in California. They require too much water in a state that has run out of water.
