Grapevine Window

My good friend painted this wonderful old window for a retirement gift for me...she is a good painter! Anyway, I decided to mount it near my potting shed and garden shed. My DH added another horizontal post to the fence/gate area and screwed the window right to the 2 post braces. I'm going to add some vining plant next Spring to grow on the fence...maybe a wild grape plant. I've transplanted Japanese Iris behind the fence but it is quite a shady area...so don't know how they will do. I love it! Just wanted to share her talent! Jeanne S.

That is wonderful! A great addition to your potting area. Do you know if the painting on the glass was protected with any kind of sealer?

Jeanne, That is a beautiful gift your friend made you! Love the garden scene you've created with it & the potting bench. What are those neat blue flowers in the blue pot? Very peaceful looking & inviting! Jan

What a stunning window and the way you displayed it is perfect!!!! You have a wonderful frend. Did she seal the painting in any way??? And I still just love your potting table.

Gosh, I think I need to retire! But I have to find a talented friend who likes to give great gifts first! lol! Tell your friend she did a remarkable job painting the window. It really is lovely. And I love the way you displayed it - really gives it center stage beyond that wonderful potting bench. Can't wait for next summer to see what it looks like once you add to it!

Thanks for your gracious comments ... my friend reads this post, too. She said the paint used is FolkArt Enamels Acrylic Paint for Glass and Ceramics. So she did not use a sealer and other outdoor things have lasted 3 yrs. or so before crackling. The package gives instructions for baking or says dishwasher safe after 21 days. Yes, she's a terrific painter!

The blue flowers is an annual called "Torenia Clown Blue" (Torenia fournieri)... it likes part shade and has bloomed a couple months and done really well on my potting bench. Jeanne S.

That is sooooo pretty! I love old windows, too. So many things can be made from them. I think you have such a beautiful potting bench, haven't seen it for awhile, glad to admire it again! Your friend is very talented, love it!
