Denver_Designer yes! I had a friend in the southwest who would put a used tin can over the tops of his fence T posts. It was to protect the posts from weather, but what a lonesome gentle clanging they made on windy evenings.

Wanderer1, do you get your materials from garage/yard sales? That gives me the idea of a mini rain chain from the bottom of a teapot or such when filled with rain.

Garage sales, Op Shops, seconhand shops etc.

Ok, I'm getting up right now to get the tin can lids out of the recycling! BTW, thre is a can opener that makes it so they are not sharp and both ends can be cut off with it. (I made some Knitting Jennies out of open ended cans but they would be good for tin men parts possibly too, something I want to make also.)

Kathy, I have one of those can openers too.
I love it because there are so many things you can make from the lids, and the cans.

I have made snowmen with 3 sizes of lids.
Made wind chimes withe both rusty and painted cans. Use 4 different sizes-large tomato sauce or pumpkin size and then go from there, as they fit inside each other, down to small evaporated milk cans. They go inside each other about 3 inches or so.
