Toro SR 20055 Issues

I've had a Toro SR 20055 for about 3 months now. Overall I really like it. My prior mower was a 21-year-old Lawn Boy 2 cycle, which was still operating, but not well. It was probably time to have another carburetor overhaul and I figured it wasn't worth putting the money into something that old. Even when it was operating better, it still smoked a lot and I was tired of breathing that and having my clothes smell after mowing.

I did my research, pretty exclusively using Consumer Reports and on-line reviews. I was very pleased the first time I used it and actually enjoy mowing my lawn now for the first time in years. Anyway, I've experienced some of the clumping issues (when mulching) I've seen mentioned on the forum. I only cut once per week and know I'm letting the grass get longer than I should. I compensate by cutting higher and taking passes that cut about 1/3 to 1/2 of the mower deck width. I'll try adjusting the front wheel height to be one notch higher than the back - something I read in this forum this evening. Every mowing, I'm cleaning under the deck thoroughly with a hose and I sure get a lot of buildup under there. I have a lot of clover in my grass (slowly making headway getting rid of it) and I find it is very wet, even if the grass is not particularly wet.

Something I've noticed and I don't think is normal is when I'm going forward and then want to pull the mower backward, one or both of the drive wheels locks up and I'm dragging the mower backward with one wheel locked up. As far as I can tell, I'm not engaging the Personal Pace drive when pulling the mower backwards. I get it to release by engaging the drive momentarily and then pulling the mower back a second time. I've not yet mentioned it to the dealer I bought it from and figure I will when I take it in to have the blade sharpened at the end of the mowing season. Do other people experience this? Think it's just perhaps an adjustment that's needed? It could possibly have something to do with the rubber strip in the back sliding under the mower as I pull it backward, but I'd expect it to cause the problem each time and it doesn't.

Thanks for any comments you care to provide.
