I will take a different spin. It is hard on the grass, you, and the equipment. Doubt the grass will die from it, but you or the mower might.

Wait until the evening or mornings with evenings being best time for the grass as it give the grass all night to scab or seal itself off and minimizes moisture loss.

Why don't you folks in texas plant some kind of grass that will die out with the onset of scorching weather that way you don't have to mow during the ungodly heat? I mean, I know you have those big cowbow hats and all but can those really make mowing in 95+ degree heat more comfortable?

Well, maybe I should have prefaced my comments with, "In my limited experience with Bermuda...." I definately don't have anywhere near the experience TW has, so listen to him. This is my second season with my Bermuda lawn and I have not noticed any negative effects from cutting in hot weather...although it is usually in the morning or evening when I mow. Cut it last night...think the temp was still 97 or so, down from a high of around 100, with a heat index of 115.....

tak2w, it has been scorching here hasn't it. 100 degree with 90% humidity ain't no joke.

I'm with you. I mow my Bermuda early in the morning or in the evenings. Still hot though, but I haven't noticed any side effects. The sweat pouring off my body is really testing the salt tolerance as well.

Look guys all I am saying is it is easier on everything if you mow in mornings or evenings. The grass won't die if you cut it mid-day, it just tends to wilt more than opposed to mornings or evenings.

QQ as far as me mowing, I don't do it. I have people who don't exist do it for me like most Texans :>)
