Eeeeeeeeeeeenteresting. Your link was down, so I did some digging. Here's the scoop on the virginia cow poop:

Considering that Cowpots are made from the results of electricity-generating, poo-reusing Methane Digester on the farm, I'd bet they're a good idea.

"The digester doesn't reduce the volume of manure, but uses it to generate gas, leaving behind nutrient-rich sludge that can be used for fertilizer, compost or mulches, or in products such as topsoil or Freund's CowPots. The process also reduces methane emissions, which may contribute to global warming, reduces costs to handle the manure and improves odor control. "

I cannot connect to those links either, possibly an error in typing them in.

strange! They work for me! Well, I googled "Dirty Jobs Cow Pots" and the first link offered is the Freunds Farm market.
you can try it.

Ok, the link worked today. If you follow the instructions and don't plant until the seedlings are ready to be planted you should not get any nutrients from those pots, or as long as they stay dry. Once in the ground they should get digested and give up any nutrients slowly just as any manure would as the bacteria work away.

I just ordered some from Gardener's Supply as an experiment. I'm going to transplant half of my broccoli starts into cow pots and other half in normal pots. I'll let you know what happens.

You guys must be spending way to much time in your garden. This was a feature an Discovery Channels Dirty Jobs. They showed how they make the cowpots. I am going to use them next year for the plants I dont direct plant. And they dont smell, Pretty cool
