Okay I have an unknown flower here that my mother gave to me years ago. She got it from QVC and I have since forgotten the name. I don't live at the house where I had planted it and didn't pull any up to bring with me as I was moving out of the country and couldn't bring it anyway. I'm most certain that it was a tropical bulb or rhizome. It could be a type of ginger but I'm pretty sure it wasn't. I hope that someone could tell me what it is. It did send up new plants the following year and also bloomed every year it was planted so it definitely liked the zone 9 it was in. As I can recall the new shoots didn't bloom the first year. I guess I should give a description of the flower... It was just like an allium, but it was a reddish orange blossom. The flower was on a thick stock about 8 inches long and perhaps 1/2" in diameter. The flower itself sat atop the stem and was a single ball the size of a softball and looked like an allium. Thanx for your time!
