I've purchased plants from them when they were at the Wisconsin Orchid Society's annual fall show. Just my opinion, but I love their selection and the prices are very reasonable. The plants were all bare root and needed TLC for a bit.

I would recommend them especially if you're looking for unusual items.

I have purchased orchid plants from Ecuagenera in person and by mail. The plants are healthy. I recommend direct purchase.

The problem with mailed plants is that Ecuagenera packs them with wet/moist newspaper. While this may help to preserve humidity during the shipment, it also promotes growth of fungus and/or bacteria.

I was a "fly on the wall" at the WOC. I overheard some professional growers laughing at Ecuagenera's unorthodox method of shipping orchids.

I have purchased plants from them few times already. In terms of price, they are pretty cheap but on the other hand, I would recommend that you should not expect the size will be pretty big, but they are just somewhat reasonable. You'd better repot them after you receive the plants. So if you want something that are unusual or native to South America, then Ecuagenera is the choice.

Ecuagenera is a really good source for so many different species as well as hybrids across the board You should really check out Orquivalle.com I have been purchaseing from both of them for about 10 years now. They both will bring orders into the states for you to pick up from a show while they are here or they will ship them to you Andrea and Juan Carlos from Orquivalle are both super super nice people.

They go to all the major shows. I have several of their plants and have been happy with them. I would suggest doing your homework to know what will prosper in your conditions as not all the plants they bring are warmth tolerant.

The best way to get your order is to pick it up at a show.

I've had good success from them for the most part. Pick the plants up at a show if possible as mentioned before. That way you can refuse any that are not in good condition. I have done this before and there are not hurt feelings. Expect the plants to be divisions of mature plants for the most part. They will require potting and a little TLC but most of my purchases have bloomed with a year of buying.

Thanks everyone. I have preordered 8 plants to pick up at the fascination of orchids show in Costa Mesa. I got a Schomburgkia rosea from someone on ebay that came from ecuagenera and its was a bs division. It has performed well and I'm hoping my new ones will do the same.

I preordered and picked up 5 plants (4 orchids and 1 bromeliad) at Longwood Gardens in March, 2009. All were delivered in excellent condition; all continue in excellent condition.

I buy from them at shows. They bring lots of good stuff with them. As for their packing method, I have found that if there are problems, it is because I didn't unpack them right away.

I've made large purchases from them twice and have been very happy with the plants. The first time I pre-ordered but the second time, I was too late to pre-order so they sent me a list of what they were bringing. It was almost as good as pre-ordering :>)

hahaha! That'll never happen here!! A package with plants is usually opened within minutes of delivery! :)

I ordered the beginning of March and a few days later received an email with the total price including shipping to US and shipping to me. I paid on March 10- about $200.
I emailed them early this week because I knew the Redlands Orchid festival was coming up and thought they would be mailing my plants.
I keep getting emails from them asking for another $200 and saying they did not receive my payment. I've sent them a copy of the payment, the date I sent it, etc. I'm waiting to hear back from them, as you can imagine I'm very upset at this point.
Oh, and when they asked for the second $200 they said I would receive my plants in JULY when they go to Santa Barbara.
I think I should just ask for my money back, what do you think?

I always buy from them at shows, always make a point to check their stuff at the earliest possible time such as the evening before the show opens. They only bring so many plants and they do get picked over. No Sunday 4:30PM specials, what you see is what you get.

I always unwrap the plants I intend to buy, once I discovered 2 smaller sized Maxillarias when I taught it was one big one. I took another one instead. The other thing to watch out for is that they will take plants to one show and without re-wrapping them bring the left overs to the next show 1 week later (so I'm told, I have no proof). By checking the roots etc, I always got great plants.

I ordered by mail once and received smaller plants some of which did not make it. Still, a great place to get plants, highly recommend them.

I never had any problem with them. I used to order them for pick up at the Long Island Orchid Festival almost every year. They have great prices and harder to find items with a large variety of orchids. Admittedly, I don't know what if anything has changed due to the pandemic and all the related logistics issues. However, I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again.

Not a good experience with your plants at the shows. They come wrapped in very humid newspapers and tend to rot. Also if you see the auctions on Instagram, hahahaha. The prices are extremely ridiculous. I think they already have a lot of fame and they abuse the prices. You can get similar things on places like Etsy or Ebay
