Not enough details to say for sure. When it leafs out, could you post a picture of the leaves?

cherry is too squishy a fruit to usually winter over..

need a better pic.. but crabapple comes to mind ... they are so hard in fall .. the birds let them go thru winter.. so as to soften in spring.. and they usually disappear about now.. some are left to ferment.. so the birds can get stoned.. and fly into windows also .. just thought you wanted to know..

With those spurs, I'm thinking crabapple, too.

Crabapple - if you cut one of those mummified fruit in two you will find pips, not a stone. (ie Seeds, not a pit).

Those 2 fruits are the only ones on the whole tree. And they are very small. The tree is tinted red so that's why I thaught cherry.

Some crabapples are very small, smaller even than the average cherry. As rhizo_1 says, those spurs are a dead give away. And mummified fruit often cling to the branches all winter. Even if there are only two fruit, it is no sacrifice to cut up one. They're not exactly decorative.;-)
