I'm not sure that chicken manure tea would be significantly different from any other manure tea. Recipes for those are all over the Internet.

I keep hearing from people that it would be too hot...too much nitrogen...

But, it has an N-P-K of 3-2-2, and is composted. The manufacturer states that it will not burn. I'm growing, primarily, superhot peppers.

Assuming you dilute it properly, just as with all compost teas I don't think it should cause any problems. I'd cut it by 1/2 at least if not more. Using any compost teas in an undiluted form is never recommended.

Plus since it is manure based it should be used as a root drench only, not as a foliar feed.

On the other hand there are many other lower-nitrogen organic alternatives for feeding hot peppers often recommended by the growers over on the Hot peppers forum here.

If teh chicken manure is composted, make the tea like any other compost tea.
It's uncomposted manure that is hot.

Thanks, everyone. How much composted chicken manure would you use for a 5-gal bucket?

Well technically it's not quite that easy. I mention this because some prefer to get really technical.

First because a 5 gallon bucket doesn't really hold 5 gallons of liquid. Second because dry measurements aren't the same as liquid measurements, they are less. Dry gallon is only 0.86 of a wet gallon.

You want to end up with a 2:1 dilution maximum and 4:1 would be better. So for every 4 cups water you'd add approx. 3/4 c manure, etc.

In real life I don't think most worry about that much accuracy. I know I don't. Instead you can dump approx. 2-4 cups of manure into the bucket and fill it with water. Let it steep and settle. Then before applying it one often reads guidelines like " dilute it to the color of weak iced tea". Works for me.

So it all depends on how accurate you want to be. :)
