Sidenote. The 1st flower on this spike opened up upside down..what is that about?! Has this happened to anyone else?

It might be a Zygopetalum crossed with another Genera, but you have very little chance of getting an exact name. There are just two many hybrids and then there is the variation within each crossing.

I had a feeling that would be the case but I have never seen a zygo with this coloring which is why I was hopeful to find an ID. As far as looks go it looks like a straight up zygopetalum. ..I see no hints of another variety in its looks to my untrained eye.
