That is such a cute little guy, pcan. You are definitely giving me zone envy, not to mention greenhouse envy, Jiuhbao Red Rose Envy and little green froggie envy :)
I'll bet he/she catches his/her share of the bugs Sue! Gotta make a living in there somehow! But, here is the *real* predator of the greenhouse. These little lizards actually "hunt" - they creep around with their prey in sight, and all of a sudden - BANG!! They run around all over the tops of pots and orchids, bugs don't stand much of a chance. I love all of these little guys! {{gwi:144805}}
I have many tree frogs that inhabit my collection and yard including the red eye tree frogs they love to hide down in the cups of my pitcher plants during the day
Thanks again everyone! Frog envy is a terrible thing Calvin. Awful!....;0) I have "red eye tree frog" envy myself. It's not a chameleon WC. Just what we call "green lizards" - we like to keep it simple..lol.. We have skinks here to Toyo - "blue tails" and "red heads"....the reds are monsters/large! They are predatory on the little green guys, and the blue tails are highly poisonous. Very toxic to cats that play with them - to death. Hi Olya!`Thanks! I'm glad you like the bark!! And for all of you in the frozen north with all of this envy, here is hope!!! Spring "thinks" it has sprung in Florida!! This is Hog Plum (taken today)....it's the first to bloom out in spring here, so that means it's heading your way!! {{gwi:144806}}
Wonderful pictures, Pat! I love your brilliant Phal. That yellow in its center lights it up.
My guess is that your chameleon is an anole. It is fascinating how the color in his loooong tail blends to match the wood he is on. We can't even see the whole tail; it must be longer than he is.
We have those darling little green tree frogs here in northern California. With all the rain we've had, they have been in full voice.
The little tree frogs are called peepers here. During the summer, they are so loud it is hard to talk when sitting on the deck in the dark.
Best I can do in the g/h are mom and child toad. When I walk the aisles they hop out in front of me to make sure I see them. Dad toad is as big as my fist and very prolific.
Tree frogs in the GH I got, but only saw one lizard in there. He didn't stay long. The froggies sure do an excellent job of bug cleanup! And I love their cute little faces. I swear they look me right in the eye, begging me to scare out a nummie for snacking (them, not me).
Beautiful blossoms, pcan...truly a sight for sore eyes, considering we just got another storm warning here in toronto, with 15cm snow last night and freezing rain alerts in another few hours.
The lizard is a green anole. Pretty common down south. Don't worry about the blue tailed skinks, they are not toxic in any way. It's an old wives tale. I not only love my orchids but also my reptiles :)
