water logged phal?

Hello all- I was recently given a phal by my neighbor who said her cats wouldn't leave it alone. She knows I have 4 or 5 others and am a huge orchid fan. It is a medium sized phal but with mini flowers- very pretty. Currently blooming, but it looked-limp? Anyway- when she left I did a closer inspection, and the root ball was disgusting- totally over watered and rotting. I have never dealt with this before- so- I cut it back. Everything brown and mushy, over half the roots, actually most of the roots. Repotted in bark and moved to a quiet low light spot.

I don't think its going to make it- the whole plant is obviously in shock, the leaves are going soft and leathery: is there anything else I can do to try and save it? Should I not have been so aggressive cleaning the root ball all at once?
