hello, I am about to plant a half acre watermelon patch and well the seed packet says 2' spacing, a farmer up the road says 8' and a hundred plants per acre so you can cultivate in between rows,and a book i have says 16" so how do you all think i should plant it i was thinking hills 4ft. wide wouldn't take long with the tractor to mound it up a little and toss a few seeds in each and would it be ok to then mulch the hills with straw what do you folks think sound like a good plan
