Could you submit different angles and brighter photos? Nice porch / walkway. Hope door is quite a bright red & trim white. Always keep seasonal decor on door for punch & to add brightness. No circular drive. Edge grass along driveway and have grass (no other plantings) right up to porch area. Landscape under windows: India hawthorne white flowering (or white flowering Azalea or similar ) all the same shrub the length of that part of the house from under the windows to the left. Remove hose, cement step block. Use Roundup on cement drive 4 weeds. I can't see porch or what's on it well enough to make other suggestions.

the trim every where except pillars is a white vynil maintence free. So all I should do is paint door & pillars right? On the right side of front door there is a dated golden glass decorative window. the porch is wide except along front window it is narrower. No other pic's.

I did add a black futon bed with 3 brick red pillows that fits perfect between front door & large front window. Sorry no pictures at the moment.

I thought you painted the door red. Color of front door is? Paint pillars same as the maintenance free vinyl: is that white? Keep very little on porch. Less is more. A small white bench to right of door would be cute (garage sale) OR paint the black futon white. Usually exteriors are improved with beefier lighting. I'd leave the golden glass as it is.

With a limited budget, I hope you might like to learn about do it yourself landscaping as that seems to me to be something that would make a gigantic impact on your curb appeal. If you go to the local library, you can check out books on landscaping, or you could ask your neighbors for advice. Take a look at the beds of shrubery in the photo below. Start your DIY gardening by trying to make a planted area like one of these, to the left of the walkway to your house. What is your TOTAL budget for your curb appeal project?

Could you provide a photo from the street which shows all of your home (including garage) and grounds?

Also, a photo showing all of the light fixtures you have on the porch...would be very helpful if you would turn the lights on for the photo.

What is the length and DEPTH of your front porch?

I like the photo j222b provided showing the porch railing...and the size of the pillars....The small bench.looks like a good fit for your area too.

If you have a Community College or University in your area they might offer Adult Enrichment classes related to landscaping and renovation...just a thought.

Circular driveways are nice, and if you do it in something permeable, you will also have a green design. I hope you didn't lose the ideas in the other thread.

PAINT the brick, Change the columns (taking one out) you''ll be ok just go with 6x6's, and add some small cans up underneath on a dimmer and maybe an L-shaped walkway from the driveway so you''ll have a more distinctive pathway for visitors. and most importantly LANDSCAPE, that alone will make a huge difference

I agree with dakmak remove columns. If they are structural keep them if not remove all of them it will open porch & be less distracting. Two or three larger round will add character if they need to stay. Love the ideal of painting brick. I painted my brick house toupe with darker shutters change was amazing wasn't to expensive. A path from driveway to porch in gravel with brick or plants for edge easy not to expensive. How about a rocker with small table to right of porch windows. If budget doesn't warrant total landscape how about plants in containers under windows and along front a small gravel island per say with brick for edge or plants to match walk way. Good bones lots of potential to have the most curb appeal of subdivision. Have fun be creative and have courage to try what you like it will look fantastic! :-)

You don't need more cement. You just need some flower beds and foundation shrubs or trees. This will soften everything and add an anchor to your home which is quite nice.

I agree with j22b about grass up to the porch. A huge pot at the corner of the porch that overflowed with vine flowers would be enough. Perhaps a red pot -- and I'm talking BIG. Concntrate shrubs and flowers on the otherside of the house under windows. Boxwoods are sturdy, weather-friendly to just about any climate, and once they're established (which takes about a year), almost indestructible.

Cladding the columns so they are more substantial would help. Inexpensive to do and definitely DIY. Don't forget the trim top and bottom to finish them off. Painted white.

Forget porch furniture. Not enough space. Something decorative and whimsical could go in a niche created by that window. Or another (smaller) red pot with overflowing plants that like shade.

THe window has it's own character; rare in a house of this type. I"d keep it as a conversation piece. Depends on how much light you need in the room that window services.

As your budget allows, you can add more plantings, more substantial lighting (a series of pot lights in the porch ceiling behind each column would be effective), In the fall, scatter grass seed across the lawn. It will germinate in the spring. You'll need to find out what works best in your zone.

It's a cute house with a lot of potential. Unless you're seniors, you'll probably sell in 10 years. Keep resale value in mind. Look at photos; look at your neighbors. Stand out. Don't paint the brick. NOt only is it expensive, it's high-maintenance, and a buyer might not want that. I love painted brick, so this is hard for me to recommend! Needless to say, remove concrete block, hoses, plants that don't work. Good luck!

Unless you have deep pockets for your budget, I would concentrate on what these folks say about landscapeing and paint and trim details. A circular drive is about 1200 to 1,400 square feet. Concrete and excavation cost about 6-8 bucks a s.f., permeable pavers 15-20 a s.f. Either way this is not a project where there is a return on the investment.

It's hard to tell from the photo, but I don't think red is a good colour for your door. It will clash with the brick. Also the posts are way too small.

I'm not a landscape designer so this is my very personal opinion. I think lawns are super boring (plus they suck up much needed water - for us in drier states it matters). Consider a more cozy set up using trees and bushes to make it more welcoming. I think the original photo you posted does exactly that. Good luck!

red is not the right colour with the brick. Go add some black on the door and the pillars, this way they would not stand out as much either and larger would look better. What colour are the windows black or brown go with that tone and deepen it? I like the idea of the path to the door through the yard or alongside the driveway and definitely add some plantings, shrubs etc along porch and walk way.
This is a modern bungalow, so make it minimal and pick a few strong character pieces for curb appeal

I can take better pictures next day or so. The metal frame around the front windows is like a bronze copper color. They do not look right like faded from the sun, but can you paint the metal frame? What color? I did already paint the door red but it is not such a bright red & I am not liking it. I did debate on painting door black since my small chair & table near door is black & brown wicker. I like the idea of larger colloums but not sure of painting them another color than white.

Paint the brick a shade somewhere in between Taupe and Grey, go with a Pastel color for your front door, window frames a shade in between grey and green. I forgot the name of the color that is basic for Aluminum windows. Go with a Natural wood column, you can stain in a darker color if you want or just seal it with a good sealer like manowar. You could also add some hurricane shutters if you want a coastal looking or its just as easy to go to lowes or home depot and get some decent pre-fab shutters. I like to call this method "baller on a budget"? lol....anyways hope this could help!
