I also received a bottle of it several months ago and I did use it as directed. I saw no difference, good or bad, I only used it on my mounts, nothing in pots and I also continued my normal fertilizer routine.

I don't remember the break down but it is not a balanced fertilizer. You would still need additional fertilizer/

The label says the N is derived from Urea. I'm concerned about that.

I also grow violets and have always been told to use a urea free fertilizer. Yep, that's my only reason.

Do you mean those violets with the nice perfume or the other more temperamental kind?

It is not a regular fertilizer. You need to fertilize as usual. It appears to stimulate root and green growth. Contains Boron and MO (molybdenum).

I tried it on a couple of dirt plants which I was root pruning. I did a very heavy pruning and sprayed it on the cut roots. I also sprayed some of the foliage.

I'm not positive, but the plants do not appear stressed. I expected them to wilt and lose leaves. Neither did and they were large plants. One a Palm, the other was a large Pachira. Both trees lost one half of their root ball. So far, they seem fine without any sign of stress.

I sprayed two orchid divisions which were not in the greatest shape. Hardly any roots (maybe one!). Checked them today and I notice both showing new growths. It is about 2 weeks since spraying them.

I suspect this product acts like a rooting hormone. I did not try it on my other orchids, and was hoping someone had tried it. I

Interesting, Brooke that you saw no difference. Makes me believe that what I have happening would have happened anyway. It is Springtime now in Florida, and all my orchids are making growths.

The dirt plants intrigue me though. I have root pruned the Pachira before and it did show signs of stress each time. This time it seems fine. Maybe its too soon to tell.

I didn't see any change in my 'chids in either direction. My fertilizer already contains B and Mo so my plants wouldn't be missing those elements. As I told Bob in another thread I do supplement them with Cal/Mag combo once a month.

When I said I used it on my mounts, I only tested it on my Phal mounts, not on any of my other genera.

I always used Superthrive on my Bonsai when I did root pruning so it appears the Megathrive did help your tropical plants - very good.

Thanks Brooke. Who knows? The tropical plants might have been fine without it. I have been afraid to try it on the orchids I care about. Everything is due for repotting, I was going to try it but wanted some feedback.

Its a big bottle and I suppose it wouldn't hurt.

Haven't used it myself, but the people who do use it on the Florida Orchid Growers group on Facebook, swear by it.

Mine get born and MO. Maxi-crop is what most in our club use. It is Norwegian sea weed extract. Not over harvested. It is a root stimulant that works. I also add a mag. calc. additive. My fertilizer is orchid plus. I'm pleased with the results.

I'll say it again! A Scientist said to me when i told him that I had had terrific results using Diatomite in a mix. Did you run a trial?

No, I did not.....because proper trials are outside the scope of us ordinary orchid growers.

So we are left with word of mouth, hints etc. etc.

The trap is conditions. I put my collection of Phals outside this last summer in a spot where they were heavily protected from the sun (that only mad dogs and English tourists go out in) and they (the phals) grew gang busters. Was it the fertilizer ? Probably not. It was the heat, humidity and watering every two days in that spot.
