I haven't got one but maybe you might need fairly deep shade to get it through the dry season. Looking at Native Orchids of Australia by David L Jones he says it occurs from North-Eastern Qld to North-eastern NSW and....
"This very widespread orchid favours moister habitats such as rainforests, swamps and open forests in high rainfall areas...."
And...." it can be easily grown in a bush-house as far south as Melbourne".

Thanks for the comments Arthur and Gary. I checked the Australasian Native Orchid Society website but that only led to generic information on Cymbidiums.

I've seen them in the rainforests growing high in the trees. Even down south, I've friends on the Sunshine Coast that have them in trees in the garden. Thought that being so far north in Qld they might be okay with some protection. So they're in a very shady and humid part of the garden. Because they haven't done so well I'm not sure if the shade is too heavy.

On the other hand, we've just come through a very hot wet season with low rainfall. Humidity was up but so were the temperatures most of the time. Normally a lot of monsoonal rain would keep the temps down a bit. But that's why I'm unsure which way to go with them.
