Can I get recommendations from anyone here on a good quality grass seed, that is also priced well for it's quality?? I don't mean that I'm looking to buy the cheapest I can find (I don't need advice on that, I know I can go to Walmart for that). I would like a grass seed that is well worth it's cost, but without being really high priced. (For example, if it were cars we were talking about, the grass seed would be a Honda, and not a Lexus).

Here are my pertinent facts:

~~ Not a heavy wear lawn - just one dog, and two empty nesters live here now.

~~ Mid Atlantic - Zone 7.

~~ Two thirds of the lawn is shade with dappled sun coming through the tall trees throughout the day.


~~ One third of the lawn is full sun.

I'm planting about 4,000 square feet.

We bought this house at the beginning of summer. It has never had a lawn. The former owners preferred a "bed of leaves". We've been raking and removing 15 years of fallen leaves for the past month, and are in the final stages of soil prep.

Just want to know what my best choices for grass seed are going to be, and where I go to buy it? A local garden shop or Lowes?
