Where to get soil test?

I bought a home last summer, and we seem to have some mix of zoysia and not sure what, but it's mostly weed and looks horrible. I wan to start getting the soil ready for a Reno next year (too late for this year) and want to star with a soil test before I apply fertilizer or lime or anything. Some have recommended rutgers (I live in central nj near trenton) and others logan labs. And above all, I was told NO DIY HOME TESTS PERIOD END OF STORY.

Which soil test companies do y'all recommend for someone who knows little about grass maintenance and what recommendations would y'all have to trey and help a failing lawn?

Thanks

That's easy....Logan Labs. Cheap and thorough, plus Andy can provide guidance.

No, I read them. To my knowledge, Andy doesn't read them here any longer.

I'm in Monmouth County and got a Rutgers soil test in the Spring. Morph knew at first glance that it wasn't right, so I got one from Logan Labs and sure enough the Rutgers test was WAY off. Definitely go with Logan Labs.

The deal with Logan Labs is they do all the tests at once. When they do that they can cut the prices because they buy the test chemicals in bulk. If you go to Rutgers to get all the same tests done, they will charge more because they don't get the same price breaks. The basic $25 test at Logan Labs gives you more and better information than the other labs in the country.
