Believe that's the variety called "Mis Joaquin"??
They grow through the roof of my shadehouse where they flower at least 10 months of the year . Have some over 10 feet growing up a Guava tree as well as some palms .
there they flower sporadicly !! Bit tiring to get up on the roof to admire the flowers lol gary

I'm not sure of the name. But it is the toughest orchid that I know of. They tolerate a broad range of temperatures. Mine get no protection from the weather. Over the years they have survived high 20's. They also tolerate the hottest direct sun. They get the western sun at the mailbox. When they get real tall you may cut them and add it back to the pot or start another pot...Or keep them tall.

I wished you can send me some of the "cut off" ones if they can survive -40 below 0 C in winter in southern Alberta Canada!!! Oh well, you'll have to keep showing them off on the site for us to admire them.

Hi SM,

I'm not sure I want to have any plants (the ones I love) outside in this weather any more. It's bitterly cold in winter and hail storm in summer. This used to be much better area to live because of the mild winter but for last 2 or 3 years, the weather turned sooo cold and hail. We had a hail storm yesterday afternoon. My house got flooded and hailed damaged within a month last June and July. (Thanks God not this year). This year, last 10 days ago, the rain poured down for almost 3 days. (exact the same date as last year). There were lot of houses got flooded again and my poor rose bushes just started to bloom beautifully got crushed from hail yesterday.... So, do I want some of my beloved plants outside to get this abusive weather?!! I do hope it will change back to the way it was before....For all the negative things I just said. There are beautiful things around here too. When the weather is nice, no hail, no storm and no terrible wind. It's beautiful! Rocky Mountains is just only an hour drive away and when you climbed up on one of those mountains.... I'm closer to heaven.....
