No one has tried to give you an answer so I will try. I don't have very many of this family but what I do know is you can't tell until the growth gets bigger. I have one that popped a spike immediately out of dormancy and the rest haven't done anything.

Thanks for trying. But this is on this year's newest growth and there is about three I can count but can catasetums produce two growth cycles in one year?

Does your plant have leaves? If it's dormant these are probably new growth, if the plant has leaves maybe spikes.

Yes, it does have leaves. So I guess it's most likely a spike.

Yes they can produce multiple growths a year. I've got one that has produced a new growth on this springs new growth plus a couple that have had the older pbulbs start a new growth.

The family seems to do what it wants to do.
