I just did one of those home soil tests. My veggies are pretty pathetic so I thought the test might shed some light.
I have the general garden area which I have thrown top soil & compost on before I planted anything spring this year.
I also built some raised beds that I filled with mels mix with just less vermiculite since it was so expensive.Before planting this aug I added some organic garden soil from bags from lowes.
My test results for both areas were pretty much the same.
pH 6.5 -, Nitrogen: Low, Phosphorus: Low, Potassium: High

I figured the garden soil would be lousy, but was very surprised the raised beds were as well. Nothing grew in spring until I added fertilizer & then things kicked in.

What might a good approach be get the fall plantings going and then fix the soil for next spring.
Would I throw down some slow realease fertalizer or use spray type every 2 weeks?

I read about planting things with deep roots to bring up nutrients but I think the soil is just really crappy. The house was built in 2005 & its built in a neighborhood so they trucked in the dirt. Its kinda sandy hen I dig down.
