Pond pump is turning off and on

My Cal Pump which has worked great for 5 years is now turning off for 1 minute the back on for 15 minutes. Can this be fixed or is it going bad?

This area is usually for pictures, so many people don't come here. However in my experience, if a Cal pump is magnetic, there can be two things wrong:

1. Impeller has a lot of gunk coating it and it has trouble keeping going.

2. The housing is cracked somewhere. Replacement for a Pondmaster housing is very inexpensive; about $14.

If it is not a magnetic pump, I have no idea what it can be. Post your question in the regular section, not the gallery, and you might get the answers you need.

Same happened here. We just replaced a GFI switch AFTER replacing what we thought was a bad pump. $7 for new switch. Threw out a $250 pump. Ooops & Ouch. Good luck to you.
