Gas crisis

Robin did it in the Miata, at the 12th gas station (took me that many to find which was open), behind 7 or so cars at 6:30AM. Can you believe it? I got up before sunrise just to find gas. Is everyone else having it as hard as we in Nashville? Alec called saying he was out of gas, couldn't find a gas station and was sure Vicky would be calling to say she was out, while Ed was sitting in an hour long line at 7:32PM last night. He and another guy almost got in a fist fight at the pump. Streets are closed off and cops patroling at stations. If it doesn't get better soon there's gonna be rioting. Mommy works for the Petroleum Commissioner (regulator) for the State. Everything revolves around gas right now. Is it just us?! Wanda, how's Mr. Man doing in all of this?

It's not quite that bad here. Or else my strategy of always stopping at gas stations that I drive by and topping off the tank when it's obviously the station has gas.

Turns out the rumour mill was in high gear.

    Hey, it made CNN..

No crisis here, yet, but 40 miles miles away in Frederick, MD, there were some Sheetz stations which ran out of gas. Word was that their suppply came from TX, so they weren't able to get more. (That situation may have changed by now.)

In the 70s gas shortage, I remember sitting in a gas line for six hours--no place for a potty break, either! When people learned that a station was getting gas, the line would start hours before opening time and extend for miles, in some cases. Worst of all was if they stopped the line before you got any gas.

I topped off my tank yesterday at 3.84 a gallon.
The station had a sign saying they only had reg. unleaded
    which is what I use.
I haven't seen or heard of problems such as you described,
    Robin.

I remember the gas crunch of the 70s very well. That should have been our red flag, right then and there. But, we didn't 'listen'. I lived outside a large city then and commuted to work. Gas was to be had, but there was a ten gallon limit and lines. I remember pulling my little Karman Ghia convertible into one station, and it was full service back then, leaning my head out the window and saying 'fill 'er up'. The wrath of the hose jockey was upon me, LOL. He screamed 'Ten Gallon Limit' in my face and I told him if he could squeeze ten gallons in my little tank, then he was a better man than I.

Yes, the seventies gas shortage - I remember at work someone left early for lunch and scouted out where the gas was and where the lines were short, and came back to report and everyone took off for that particular station...if it was your day.
In southern California we had odd and even days, predicated on the last number on your license plate, beginning with Monday even, Tuesday odd and day seven a free-for-all, if I recall correctly.

Apparently California hasn't heard that there's a gas crisis yet. I'll probably fill my tank up tomorrow though just in case, even though I have more than half a tank and no plans to do a lot of driving. Well, have to take one of the rescue dogs to the vet next week, but that's a one-gallon trip.

No problem at all here...in fact gas dropped about 20 cents a gallon over night. I saw $2.34.9 here today...no lines, no shortages...
I think the shoratge in a manufactured "crisis"
