soil test info pls??????

Hi everyone, we've recently moved to another rental house & wanted to do a good/detailed soil test. The extension office's test doesn't check for things like lead levels in the soil & after reading some new gardening books which mentioned that this was really important, we'd like some suggestions on where to get our soil tested byt a good/reputable company/lab who checks for things like lead as well as the acidity, pH & so on.

Any suggestions?

Use the phone book/Th' Google. Call the Extension Agency office in your county and ask them.

Why not contact the soil lab and get suggestions about where to send samples for more advanced testing? I'd start there, I believe.

Hi,
I also posted this in the soil forum, but thought I would share over here in case others are interested in this info.
UMass will accept soil samples from around the country. They include Lead levels in their standard soil test. It only costs 9$.
Great deal for people in urban areas who are worried about lead levels in their home gardens.

That sure seems like a good deal! TT, depending upon what you find out in Florida, you may want to take advantage of this. I'd spring for the standard test w/organic matter and the pH w/buffer pH. ("Acidity" [as you put it] is the pH...an indication of the alkalinity or acidity of the soil solution.)

Be sure that you read and follow the instructions on how to take proper soil tests.
