Thick green algae in stream.

The pond has been going through the freeze/thaw cycle but for the most part running. Where the water flows down the stream from a small bog area keeps thawed and a small part where the water flows into the pond. The whole stream is full of this very thick green algae that pulls up very easily by hand or in a stick. Doesn't look like string algae, way too thick than I've ever seen before. I also have watercress in the stream but don't think that is affecting the algae, but just thought I'd mention. The pond is about 700 gallons and I still have the 2 pumps running, one a 500 gph pump and the other a 700 gph pump. The water is crystal clear but there is quite a lot of muck on the bottom of the pond that will have to be cleaned for my spring cleaning.

What is the algae?
