The critical point

If you keep an eye on your biorhythm chart, you know that the critical point is not at the highest or lowest point, but halfway between. Last Friday saw a triple critical on my chart, with all three waves falling at the half-mark. (Just for the record, this morning is the first I've looked at my chart in several months.)

On Friday: I caught my thumb in the sheet as I was arising and managed to jam it backwards, causing a minor sprain. The toothpaste tube slipped out of my hand and landed on the floor; I stepped on it and now know that tooth paste can squirt 15 inches and will land on the carpet, not the tile. Later, while helping DH split wood, he grabs a log I'm holding, pinching my finger on the sharply split edge which caused a badly bruised joint. At dinnertime, I forgot to slide the diffuser under the pot of rice, thus having to scour the scorched pot, and get a fine wire from the scouring pad up under my fingernail. I end the day sitting under the trees, admiring the lovely blue sky... a huge acorn drops point down onto my hand, leaving a bruise which I still have.

"There is always room for coincidence."

You poor thing. One of those days when you should have stayed in bed. With the covers over your head.

Meldy, what did your horoscope say? LOL I didn't know biorhythm charts were still around. I remember back in the seventies you could get one done by a machine at the arcade in the mall. While waiting for the kids to spend their allowance on video games, lots of parents semed to be buying the charts. josh

I haven't any idea what the horoscope called for; I probably wouldn't have understood what it said.

I became interested in biorhythm when I learned that both a minor airline and a major bus system used it when making out their drivers/pilots work schedules. Intellectual critical days were not work days; both companies had a better than average low-incident accident rate. The only thing I know for sure about it, is that *every* accident DH was in occurred on days that computed to be both intellectual and physical criticals. During 20+ years of driving in DC, he was in 8 accidents, all minor and all avoidable.

Just teasing about the horoscope, Meldy. All I know about either system is that they're based on the time of your birth.

I always feel I can sense when it's going to be "one of those days". I don't always heed the signals, of course. But my sister and I used to laugh about our "rainy Monday" work outfits. Didn't have to be raining or Monday, but it was a "go to" dress and simple accessories that was perfectly acceptable, just nothing to excite interest or comment.

On those "rainy Mondays" I put off anything which could possibly be done tomorrow ...phone calls were invariably wrong numbers. letters with misinformation or worse, names misspelled. I just tried to get thru day with lowest profile and fewest corrections to follow.

Nowadays I just spend those days reading...LOL josh

Yesterday was that kind of day for my DS. On his way into the college parking lot, He took a curve too fast and dented his tire rim, chewing up the tire. His donut spare was flat, so he walked a mile or so to my workplace. He said we had a spare that would work at our old place 20 miles away, but when we got there someone had stolen it. So we went to a nearby junkyard but the owner has gone out of business and had no rims left. So we drive back to a used car parts shop. They informed us we needed to get the distance between the lug nuts to get the right rims. I ordered two rims so DS would have a usable spare. So we drive the couple of miles back to the car to measure. Then back to the parts store that was so busy it took them a long time to get the two tires and rims. We thought we had it licked, but.......... Back to the college. DS jacked up the car and took off the old rim. One of the new tires had a leaking valve stem. So DS tried the other one - didn't fit. So he put the old tire back down, jacked the car down and put the jack back in the trunk. Off to the tire shop. They were swamped and said they couldn't fix it today. I explained the emergency so they took it in right away. Back to the college. Got the tire on so I left to go back to work. DS got the wrong tire exchanged then realized he'd left the old tire in the college parking lot. Back to pick it up. Whew! A three hour ordeal to get a working tire. One good thing about the whole day, the guy at the parts store had told us it would be $30 per tire. When I went to pay for them, the guy gave us both tires for $42 after he asked if DS was in college. That was one bright moment of our day.
